Sean & Ashley’s Rarotongan Wedding

Sean and Ashley chose the beautiful island of Rarotonga for their wedding day, bringing together family and friends from New Zealand and the Cook Islands for a celebration that was deeply personal and meaningful.

With Sean’s family roots in Rarotonga, the wedding was more than simply a destination wedding. It was an opportunity to celebrate alongside local family while welcoming loved ones from New Zealand to experience the island that holds such a special place in their lives.

They chose the white sandy beaches of Koromiko Island, just across lagoon from Muri Beach for their ceremony with both parties arriving by Koka Lagoon Cruises.  Their reception followed at The Rarotongan Beach Resort, surrounded by tropical scenery, crystal-clear water, and the relaxed atmosphere that makes Rarotonga one of the South Pacific’s most sought-after wedding destinations.

When Sean and Ashley asked Moving Films & Photography to travel to Rarotonga and create their wedding film, we were honoured to be part of their day. We arrived early with the guests to experience the cultural island night and made the most of the beautiful destination by staying an extra few nights after the wedding.

Rather than focusing on elaborate productions or staged moments, our approach was simple: capture real moments, genuine emotions, and the people who matter most. The laughter, the happy tears, the hugs, and the quiet moments are all part of the story.
