At most of our weddings, Gray and I often get the weird feeling that we know everyone.  We feel like we’ve met before and we we get a strongest sense of déjà vu.  We take that to mean we are in the right place, with the right people and on the right path.  And because we feel like part of the family, we feel deeply responsible for helping to create the most beautiful keepsake we can, both for our couple and the generations that follow them.

This was most certainly the case for Mark and Sarai’s wedding.

It can be overwhelming at the best of times to plan a wedding and book vendors.  Never more so than planning a wedding when you’re not in the country.  The order process for this wedding started off a little differently.  Sarai’s best friend and bridesmaid made initial enquiries with us and sent through all the necessary info to Mark and Sarai overseas. They made a booking to reserve their date and later decided what type of package they wanted to have and any extras.  From there, we gleaned all the final details of their day during our pre-wedding meeting and wedding rehearsal.

The glorious florals from Sage & Ivy along with custom made lava-lava table runners and palm fronds brought together a vibrant and colourful palette with Pacific Island feels!  They had the most divine food from The Grounds by way of a “walk and fork” food service.  The yummiest bite sized morsels.  It was like fine dining a forkful at a time!  From memory, there were about eight different bowls and they were all ah-mazing!!!  (side note: At every wedding, I aim to taste all the cakes, test all the photo-booths and try the food at all the venues I can, so if any couples are interested, I can you let you know what I thought when compared to a whole bunch of others).

Mark and Sarai didn’t want to take away time from their guests, so we kept their photo shoot onsite at the venue and for only about half an hour.  They also chose to have just a few important speeches, and invited anyone else to share their well wishes at our video guest message setup. It’s also a fun idea for the Bride and Groom to leave a message for themselves!

The highlight for me was the surprise family siva performance for the Bride and Groom.  It set the scene perfectly for their Siva Samoa. Even though I’m not Samoan, my hubby is, and I performed a siva at our wedding too (lol, definitely not as good as this one!)  Invokes such beautiful memories of our own wedding day.  Those memories from our wedding day help give us cues for photo opportunities, angles and special moments that might otherwise be missed!

Thank you both so much for having us capture your day!
