About Us
Gray and Shanel – husband and wife, and the founders of Moving Films. We’re the first phone call and the final edit, and after more than a decade of weddings, every film that leaves our studio is still shaped by the two of us.
Our story
It's cliché, but we love LOVE. And we love FILMS! When we were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted a keepsake that was more than a home video of what happened, we wanted to FEEL what happened. We had a hunch that other couples would want the same thing – that hunch became a business in 2012, and the business became our life’s work – built slowly but intentionally, alongside our own children over the last decade.
We're not fine art photographers. Behind the cameras, we see ourselves as documentarians – Shanel's eye behind the photographs, Gray's behind the footage. Behind the desk, Shanel is the planner and the voice on the phone. Gray cuts every film himself – the long way – until the day plays back the way it actually felt. Nothing goes out that hasn't been through our hands, eyes and heart.
Most days, it’s us you’ll see. On bigger days, a few shooters we’ve worked beside for years – more like family than crew – step in alongside us or for us. The direction and the final edit never leave us though.
